Windows: LoginΒΆ
On a Windows machine, you will need to install an SSH client such as:
Using Exceed onDemand
After you have downloaded and installed Exceed onDemand, you can login to the cluster using your ITS username and password, e.g. apollo.hpc.sussex.ac.uk.
After succesfully authenticating with the cluster, it will allow you to select your connection information for your X windows session on the cluster.
Select the following options as shown below.
You will now be successfully logged into the cluster, with a -bash-4.1$ login prompt.
Using PuTTY
The installation of putty is straight forward. When the install is complete. Start PuTTY and enter your login credentials and login to the host apollo.hpc.sussex.ac.uk.
When logging in you would be prompted with a certificate error of which you should accept, by clicking YES for a successful login with the cluster.
You will now be successfully logged into the cluster, with a -bash-4.1$ login prompt.
Forwarding X11 on PuTTY
For light graphical applications like Matlab, using PuTTY, make sure and check the X11 forwarding box under Connection -> SSH -> X11.
